The Medicare Safety Net is a system whereby the Federal Government will meet 80% of out of pocket costs for all medical services delivered out of hospital after an individual or family. This substantially reduces the costs of continuing to see a Psychiatrist or Psychologist if ongoing review or monitoring is considered a necessary aspect of your treatment. Members of a family living together all contribute to the same threshold if they are appropriately registered with Medicare. Medicare will automatically keep track of your progress towards this threshold for you as your receipts are lodged. To receive this benefit however your family must be registered for Safety Net. We encourage you to do this, and can help with completing the registration form can that must be lodged with Medicare. If you require more information on the new Safety Net, please call Medicare on 1800 011 163 or visit their
