Dr Wheatley is a medical graduate from the University of New South Wales. He trained at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney before being commissioned in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corp. Dr Wheatley served for ten years in the Australian Regular Army as a Medical Officer achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was deployed as the Officer Commander Medical Company in Rwanda in 1995 and as the Senior Medial Officer to Bougenvilla in 1998. Dr Wheatley commenced formal psychiatry training in 2005 and was awarded his fellowship in 2010. His interests include Military Psychiatry, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Mood Disorders. Dr Wheatley is a VMO at New Farm Clinic.
